After his time with Universal, Asher branched out into a career in filmmaking. During the 1960s, he wrote a string of girls-in-bikinis films, which proved to be hits with teenagers. However, his attempts to change the music industry failed.

After a few years of success with his film productions, Asher ventured into television. After his work with I Love Lucy, he directed a few episodes of Racket Squad and Big Town. Also during his time in television, he directed The Thin Man, Willy, and Alice. Afterwards, he made a short-lived comedy show called The Paul Lynde Show.

After a few years, Asher and his wife Elizabeth met and Bill Asher became married. They had three children together. Their relationship went through a lot of ups and downs, however, and in 1963, they

Eventually, Lucid Entertainment was acquired by Playboy, a major TV network. The company surpassed HBO and ESPN and became the number one channel for DirecTV. Several years later, the company was sold to Bally’s Entertainment for $100 million.
